The girl with the curl

"There was a little girl who had a curl
Right in the middle of her forehead;
When she was good, she was very, very good,
And when she was bad she was horrid."
-Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme

My mother often calls me "The girl with the curl" which I have to admit, I pretty much am. The big question I have is, what happened to the girl with the curl? The poem is in past tense. This girl is a 'was'. Does that mean she was punished for being so horrid? Does she not exist anymore because of said punishment? This is all very important because it could very possibly show where my life is headed.

Good news

Good news for all of you concerned about my dating life...or lack thereof! Last night, I went on an absolutely amazing date. A wonderful time was had by all. We doubled so Kristen was there too! We went to go see "Throughly Modern Millie" at BYU and enjoyed every moment. There will most likely be more to come...haha. Wow! What a night. What a night.

Let's all hope to see no shadow

I am officially ready for winter to be over. It is true. I decided it this morning while I was eating my steaming hot oatmeal and dreaming of cuddling in my blankets next to a burning fireplace. Ahh, warmth!I then decided to drive to school because for some odd reason, walking to school in 2 degrees in the dark just doesn't get my excitement going. After parking, I decided to run to work from my car. This was a bad idea for at least 2 reasons:

1. When I finally got to work, I was so stinkin' hot I had to strip off any clothes that I could (within the bounds of the Honor code, of course) just so I would not die.

2. I have a reputation of not running. I don't think I have run since I was forced to in the 10th grade. Even then, it was more of a slight trot just to make my gym teacher happy. What if someone I know saw me running to work and said to themselves, "hey Kim, I saw you running this morning, and I thought we should go running together every morning, and maybe even start training for a marathon together! it would be so much fun!" Heck no. I just vowed to myself that I will never ever run again because being forced to run in a marathon would be the worst.

Lessons learned in the snow

Have I ever told you that I am not the smartest person alive? No? Well, it is true. Quick story. As mentioned earlier, I enjoy walking/frolicking in the snow. Last night, we were walking to FHE (or what we thought was FHE) and when we got to the church, I realized my cell phone was missing. Now here is the thing, I was prancing, frolicking, stomping, snow angeling and most thoroughly enjoying myself in the 4-5 block walk to the building. My cell phone could have been anywhere. After 3 hours of digging, shoveling and sweating, I (with the help of friends) was able to locate my wonderful cell phone buried in the snow. Here is a list of things I learned while digging in the snow.

1. Once things are covered in snow, everything looks good. Everything. Snow + night + more snow - slipperiness + street lights - snow plows - gray and yellow snow= Pure beauty.

2. People lose many things in the snow. You name it; I found it in the snow.

3. Sprint is the pretty much best thing that ever happened to me. They are the reason I found my phone. On their site I found the Sprint Family Locater. A genius idea. Words cannot express how wonderful it is. They can locate where a cell phone is and tell you the address of the phone and show you on a map the exact location of the phone! I cannot recommend the Locater enough. It is only $5 a month, and you can cancel the plan whenever you want. (I did right after I found my phone)

4. Digging through snow with no gloves is a bad idea = frozen immovable fingers that will shatter into bits if hit by a hard object.

5. A good attitude can make things seem not so bad. Even in bad situations a good attitude can and will make life amazing.

6. Hot chocolate is one of the, if not the best, drink in the entire world. Really warms the soul after a cold adventure.

7. Never ever frolic, jump, skip, and snow angel when you have loose items in your pocket. This will only lead to bad things.

8. Snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes are not one of my favorite things. They lead to smeared mascara and sneezy noses. But they are funny nonetheless.

9. Ugg boots take a long time to dry once soaked to the core. When soaked, they are no longer comfortable.

10. I am weak. Thank goodness for strapping lads who can lift shovels and sift through snow for hours on end. Plowing by hand is really an incredible workout.

11. Snow angels are fun no matter how old you are and how cold and wet you get after making them.

12. Hard work and Perseverance really do pay off!!!

Bring on 2009!

How is it possible that I go home for vacation and come back to Provo even more tired than I left? Maybe not more tired, but pretty tired. I didn't even do anything over break except sit on my butt and sleep. Sleep(should)=energy. I am going to sit down and watch a movie soon and go to bed early. If all goes as planned, I will fall asleep during the movie. It is snowing outside right now. So beautiful. I think I am one of the few people that actually enjoys the snow. Well, I enjoy it when I am sitting inside and watching it fall from my window. Can I tell you a secret? I kind of like, no, I love walking through fresh snow too.

I am pretty excited/extremely nervous for the new year. 2008 was a wonderful year and was probably one of the most fun years of my life, but I didn't close the year with any sense of accomplishment. I can't think of a single event of something that I did that really stood out in my year...Went to Vegas for the 1st time, maybe? But that wasn't even that monumental. A lot will be changing in my life in 2009. In April, I will graduate. Hopefully I will be able to find a job doing something I love (a tiny problem being not knowing what I love...should probably figure that out). I don't know where I will be a year from now...much less 4 months from now! Isn't that a little bit scary? A little bit exciting too! Keeps a little mystery in my life! I am interested in knowing what 2009 holds for me, and for you too.

P.S. Yay for the last semester of school in my life starting Monday!!!!! (and by last semester of school in my life, I mean, possibly the last semester of school in my life, I am not really sure)
