I shall call him Squishy

Do you have a nickname you hate? One that everyone seems to call you, but makes you cringe everytime you hear it? For me, that name is "Kimmy" and usually people I hardly know, but already annoy me, call me that name. For some reason, there are exactly three people in this world that call me "Kimmy" and I don't mind. What makes the difference between letting it annoy me and not caring?

So what do you do when someone you hardly know calls you a name that makes you grit your teeth? Tell them kindly? (Probably) Let it nag at you? (What I do) Or do you simply punch them in the jugular (What I wish I could do.)

I have deduced that my dislike for this name comes from one specific character from one childhood TV show that us 90s kids adore.
Kimmy Gibbler. Bless her soul.

We didn't start the fire

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, last night while giggling in the aisles of Wal-mart I realized how I am grateful for my mostly boring life. When you lead a boring life, nights like last night make my month. What started as a burning of our poorly designed pinewood derby car named "Serial Killer" in a charcoal grill ended in a lawn fire that nearly burnt some bodies and the entire neighborhood down.

I have some helpful tips if you start a Thanksgiving Day turkey fire. Take notes. This post has the potential of saving your life.
  1. Gas and fire do not mix. Thank you Wal-mart gas containers for teaching us this lesson a little too late.
  2. Water should not be poured on a gas/oil fire. A simple lesson we all know, but sometimes ignored under distress. Gas fires escalate fast when water is poured on them.
  3.  It takes a lot of baking soda to put out a fire of that size.
  4. A fire extinguisher does a great job of putting out fires. Buy One. A much needed thanks needs to go out to my visiting teacher for having an extinguisher on hand.
  5. People will not hesitate to call the fire department if they see suspicious flames. They will however stay safely inside their house and not ask if everything is under control before calling the fire department.
  6. Gossip spreads faster than fire in LDS singles wards. Love it.
  7. Life is good. Uncontrollably funny and good.

A couple years ago, I started getting into dressing up for Halloween again. I think because my work lets everyone dress up for Halloween. Work is pretty repetitive and we don't often get to mix up the business attire, so I will do anything to break up the monotony. This year I kept it simple and dressed up like a bee for work because I wanted to recycle Little Red Riding Hood for actual Halloween. It would be bad taste to dress up like the same thing 2 years in a row at work.
This picture makes me realize flats are not attractive. Or maybe it is just me in flats.
Later that night, my roommates and I hit up a "Mid-Singles Activity" aka a ton of sweaty desperate 25-30 year olds who awkwardly stand against walls while eating chips and salsa while sizing everyone up and down. Meanwhile, the even more awkward people (my roommates and I) whip our hair back and forth to Justin Bieber. We made exactly zero friends at this activity and lost at least 6 because of our wild uncontrollable dance moves and mildly-inappropriate jokes.
On a related note, I have decided to dress up as Lil' Wayne next year. I can't wait.
