Last night, some friends and I watched one of the most
fun/funniest things I have seen in a long time. Let me put it this way, it was ten times better than any movie I have EVER seen. There is this activity(?) Sport (??) called L.A.R.P (Live Action Role Play). Basically, these people dress up in mideval costume and recreate video games and movies using fake swords, shields, javelins, bows and arrows and pretty much every other weapon you could imagine. These people meet every Thursday night from 7-11 in a park in Provo and they just go and have battle after battle. There are two teams and they fight against each other and the last team standing, wins. When someone dies they have to lay on the ground until it is over and if they get struck in the leg they can't use their legs anymore so they crawl around on the ground. The following video is a good example of what it is like.

Anyway, so my friend Kristin found out about the LARPing in the park and we decided to go. There were 5 of us that went up originally: me , Kristin, Shawnee, Todd and Luis. We took up blankets got as close as we felt comfortable...a pretty safe distance...and just sat, watched, and laughed....not at them...just at the whole situation. As far as I could see, we were the only spectators there so we felt a little awkward for a bit. One of the guys, his "name" was Craw, kept coming up to us in between battles and would jump over us, roll and dive at us, and then proceed to explain the whole LARPing thing, and all the LARPers would refer to us as peasants. One guy there had been doing it for 15 YEARS! crazy. The funny thing is that they are so into it. They have names for each other, act in character, buy armor, there are even rules and regulations and nationwide tournaments. It was so much fun to watch that I think I may go watch a couple more times.
We got a new roommate this past week. Her name is Brooke and she is T.Y's little sister. She is really nice and seems to be enjoing her self. I still can't believe that T.Y's little sister is living with us. As Caitlin wrote in an e-mail to me, "But wow, that is great that TY's sister moved in. I think I laughed for approximately 5 full minutes when I read that. How is Robyn enjoying her new roommate?" I think you would need to live in my apartment to understand why it is so funny though! Life will definately be a little bit more...interesting now.
